Where to go on yoga in Wrocław?
We reccomend the yoga centre „Centrum Yogi” on Purkyniego 1 . Classes are divided into beginners and advanced level. Blankets, wooden blocks, pillows and bolsters are available for you on the spot. However if you decide to continue and practice on a regular basis, we recommend buying your own private mat.
Dos and Don’ts if you plan to go to a yoga class:
Don’t :
- have a big meal right before class. Try eating lightly a few hours before class starts.
- drink water during class, but have some before and after.
- wear shoes or socks during class.
Do:
- tell the teacher it’s your first class
- tell the teacher if you have any health problems, especially if you suffer from high blood pressure, heart problems, if you undergone any operation or injury, if you gave any problems with your spine or eyesight
- wear comfortable and loose clothes. You may bring a jumper and a pair of warm socks and put them on in the end of the class for the relaxation process.
Get started with yoga and enjoy its many health benefits. Regular practice of asanas will give your body more flexibility and strength. Physical activity is good for relieving stress, and this is particularly true of yoga. Because of the concentration required, your daily troubles seem to melt away during the time you are doing yoga. This provides a much-needed break from your stressors, as well as helping put things into perspective. The emphasis yoga places on being in the moment can also help relieve stress, as you learn not to dwell on past events or anticipate the future. You will leave a yoga class feeling less stressed than when you started. Yoga also introduces you to meditation techniques, such as watching how you breathe and disengagement from your thoughts, which help calm the mind.

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline, originating in ancient India. The Sanskrit word yoga has the literal meaning of „yoke”, meaning to join, to unite, or to attach. What is commonly referred to as „yoga” can be more accurately described by the Sanskrit word asana, which refers to the practice of physical postures or poses. Asana, however, is only one of the eight „limbs” of yoga, the majority of which are more concerned with mental and spiritual well-being than physical activity.
